WV DHHR confirms over 1,000 new COVID-19 cases, 9 additional deaths on Saturday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 1,153 new COVID-19 cases and nine additional deaths, including one death in Barbour County on Saturday.

The DHHR announced 742 new cases, along with 11 additional deaths on Friday.

The report from the DHHR stated that as of 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, there have been a total of 911,868 (+13,138) laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 32,792 (+1,153) total cases and 574 (+9) of those cases resulting in deaths.

The DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 71-year old male from Berkeley County, an 87-year old male from Summers County, a 61-year old male from Greenbrier County, a 77-year old male from Wayne County, an 80-year old female from Marshall County, an 83-year old female from Barbour County, an 86-year old female from Kanawha County, a 57-year old male from Kanawha County, and a 91-year old male from Cabell County.

“As we continue the fight against this pandemic, we are devastated by the loss of more West Virginians,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “The families of these residents are in our thoughts.”

According to the DHHR’s coronavirus dashboard, there are currently 9,141 (+610) active cases and 23,077 (+534) recovered cases in the state.

*Note – Please note that delays may be experienced with the reporting of information from the local health department to DHHR. As case surveillance continues at the local health department level, it may reveal that those tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state as an individual in question may have crossed the state border to be tested. Such is the case of Calhoun County in this report.
