Watch: Shark chows down on seal in shallow water off Cape Cod beach

- Advertisment -

The summer beach season may be gone, but sharks are still swimming and hunting for meals off the Cape.

That’s the reminder Massachusetts shark researchers issued Friday after a video was shared on social media of a great white making a meal of a seal just off Race Point Beach in Provincetown on Thursday.

“This is another good reminder that white sharks hunt in shallow waters off the Cape and, based on tagging data, we know that October is a peak season month for white shark activity off the Cape,” the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy wrote on Facebook

According to Sharktivity, the app from the conservancy that tracks shark movements and sightings, at least six sharks have been detected off the Cape in the last 48 hours.

In the video, taken by Corey Nunes, the shark can be seen swimming just off the beach — the water turning red once it tears into its prey.
