Titans vs. Texans: Kelly brothers recall past Madden matchups

By | October 18, 2020

The Week 6 contest between the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans will once again see two brothers on opposite sidelines, as Dennis Kelly plays right tackle for the Titans, and his brother, Tim Kelly, is the offensive coordinator for the Texans.

This will mark the ninth time the two brothers have squared off as members of these rival organizations. The Titans and Texans have evenly split the previous eight matchups.

Even before Dennis and Tim landed in the same division in the NFL and were forced to play each other twice per year, their brotherly football rivalry began with matchups against one another in the Madden NFL video games.

Dennis recently joked that he was going to look back at his past Madden games against his brother to get an idea of how he’d run Houston’s offense.

Tim also addressed the times they played Madden against one another, and he says he won the majority of their matchups. We can neither confirm nor deny this claim.

Mark Lane of Texans Wire recently noted in a Q&A with us that the firing of Bill O’Brien would make the team more loose and enable them to have more fun, and he pointed to Tim Kelly as one of the people who stands to benefit the most from not having O’Brien looking over his shoulder.

We’ll see if that truly has any impact when the Titans and Texans kickoff at noon CT on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.
