By mid-fall in the garden most of our produce is harvested and the plants are starting to decline. In this episode of Simple Homemade life, we’re taking you on a fall garden tour and sharing five tasks you can do in the garden to get ready for winter and have a healthy growing season next year. Plus, we have a couple of fun farmhouse updates as we continue to renovate the old farmhouse.

Fall Garden Tour + 5 Tasks to Do Now

I hope you’re able to watch the video above so you can get an idea of what our low maintenance, raised bed garden looks like in the first weeks of October. I’ve been so pleased with our harvest and the easy upkeep in our first year with the full garden in place!

We covered the existing old plywood on this previous enclosed porch with beadboard panels. Instant update, right?

Still to come are the crown molding and strips to cover the seams. Well, and all the other moldings, painting, flooring…lol.

Vintage Arched Cabinet

This may be my favorite thing we’re adding to the farmhouse! I talked about this fun vintage arched cabinet my brother found for us in this Good Things List, but it wasn’t in place yet.

Here it’s a little easier to see what it will look like in the kitchen wall. We have to add the tongue-and-groove beadboard on the walls here (new, but it will match the 100 year old original beadboard we’re salvaging for the kitchen backsplash and walls) before we can install it permanently.

It will also all be painted white and the two sections will only be about one inch apart so they resemble one cabinet.

Functional AND cute, with a story to tell! #love
