Man found unresponsive on South Mountain trail in critical condition

- Advertisment -

A hiker found a man in his 40s unresponsive on a trail in South Mountain Park on Friday morning.

A man in his 40s was found unresponsive on a trail Friday morning by another hiker at South Mountain Park, according to fire officials.

At around 7:22 a.m., Phoenix fire Capt. Rob McDade said technical rescue teams were arriving on the south side of the park, where the man was found half a mile from the parking lot.

Rescuers drove a park ranger vehicle up the trail with medical gear and brought the man back to the main parking lot, according to McDade. The man was then taken to a hospital in critical condition, McDade said.

Right now, it’s unknown if the incident was due to a medical condition or if the man had an injury, McDade said.
