Man armed with rifle causes shelter in place in Coventry neighborhood | ABC6

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE): Coventry Police asked nearby residents to shelter in place after a report of a man who armed himself with a rifle inside a home on Hill Street.

The Coventry/West Warwick Regional SWAT team and a bomb squad responded around 4:30 p.m., according to police.

While the surrounding neighborhood was told to shelter in place, police said there was never an immediate threat to area residents.

A man was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

The Coventry Police and Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate.
