Hundreds gathered Friday to celebrate the life of an 11-year-old Chandler boy who died in a watercraft crash in Utah.

Family, friends, classmates and teachers of Ethan David Law gathered at the Amberwood Park, which is adjacent to Chandler Traditional Academy’s Goodman campus, where Law attended school. They shared tears and happy memories in remembrance of an “unforgettable” sixth-grader.

Officials said Ethan was injured on Oct. 5 at Sand Hollow State Park near St. George, Utah when two personal watercrafts crashed into each other. He died from his injuries two days later.

David Law, Ethan’s dad, shared memories with those who came to celebrate the life of his son. He remarked how Ethan could easily finish reading a Harry Potter book in one day and remembered how he had been working on card tricks for the past few months as his COVID-19 pastime.

“Ethan, thank you for letting us be your parents for 11 years. You were such a blessing to our family. We will miss you dearly,” David Law said. “I love you, buddy.”

One classmate remembered him as always smiling and happy. They couldn’t even picture his face as angry or sad.
