1st-quarter surge lifts North to football win over Red River | INFORUM

GRAND FORKS — Fargo North found the end zone four times in the first quarter en route to a 41-6 win over Grand Forks Red River on Saturday in Eastern Dakota Conference football.

Mason Lockwood started the first-quarter barrage for North with a 2-yard touchdown run. The Spartans turned defense into offense for the next two scores. Keegan Sparrow had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown and Braeden Jodsaas returned a fumble 20 yards for a TD. Daniel Boutain capped the first quarter with a 16-yard passing touchdown to Carson Shultis.

In the second quarter, North’s defense again found the end zone, by way of a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown by Jacob Brosius. Boutain added a 10-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

North rose to 1-5 this season, while Red River fell to 0-7.
